Hello,

I have one of these cards and was happily surprised to discover
that it mostly worked straight out of the box with Alsa. My only
problem with it might be that I am expecting too much of it. When
I play an MP3 or WAV (or anything via a program such as xmms) the
sound comes out of both the analogue and digital (optical)
connectors but when I play a CD using a cd player (like gtcd) the
audio only appears on the analogue socket, not via the digital
out socket too. Also the digital audio connector on the board
does not seem to function. I have tried all of the sliders and
mute options in alsamixer to no avail. Am I expecting too much of
this card and/or the driver in it's current state or have other
people managed to make these features work?

I posted this on the Alsa-Users mailing list yesterday but
decided that it might be worth posting it here too.

how about adjusting "IEC958 AC97 Playback Volume"?

Unfortunately that did not have any effect either. I am now using
the latest CVS snapshot of the code and still cannot get CDs
audio to come out of the optical out unless I use xmms to play
the CD.
