Hi all,

I have an Apple iBook running Debian Linux with a kernel compiled
from the Debian kernel-source-2.4.20 package with the Debain PowerPC
patches applied. I have installed from source (obtained at
alsa-project.org) :

	alsa-driver-0.9.3a
	alsa-lib-0.9.3

When I run the init script ("/etc/init.d/alsa start" on my Debian
installation) it fails stating that alsactl seg faulted. If I
then run "/etc/init.d/alsa stop", the machine locks hard (no
response to keyboard or pings).

I then removed the battery and rebooted the machine. Here is the
kernel Ooops message. Is there anything I can do to help debug this?

Cheers,
Erik

Yes, process the Oops with ksymoops. Since it uses your System.map to
translate addresses, you are the only who can decode it.

Bye.

at first, please give the output of ksymoops if possible.
without this, it'll be much harder to spot out the bug point.

also, please try the cvs version.
i changed a bit the ppc code recently.
(note that you need to run snddevices script once with the recent cvs
version, since we removed the dynamic device files on /proc.)

ciao,

Takashi

Thanks Takashi. I will do this some time over the weekend. I've been a
litle pressed for time over the last couple of days.

Cheers,
Erik
