no, it's not your fault, you just hit a wrong place :)
the dsp patch management is not implemented well on alsa, and one of
the TODO's.

so far, only very basic functions are implemented.
you can load dsp codes via ioctl through hwdep, but it's not a patch,
i.e. you need to load the whole image.

alsa version's as10k1 exists in alsa-tools package.  but i'm not sure
whether it works currently...
