RME installation problems

RME installation problems

Hi all,

I'm trying to install a brandnew RME pci/multiface combination on a
Athlon computer with Debian/Woody. I have my own RME/pci combination
at home running well but on the new computer I get complaints on
modprobing the snd-hdsp that no cards are found.

snd-hammerfall-mem insmods without errors (reporting it allocated
memory for 1 card).

Using the older alsa driver which works on my machine at home didn't
help. The card is detected with lspci and uses irq 12 not sharing it
with something else.

I read on other lists that RME uses a different firmware now. Could
that be related to the problem or is the problem clearly related to a
wrong system configuration?

Please answer even if you can't hear those "I can't get ... running"
anymore as it is used in a rather big installation in Rotterdam two
weeks from now.

Let me know if you need any logs to track down the problem.

I guess that means it can't be related to firmware issues.

that did the trick. Seems to work fine now. I can't check all the way,
as I'm in Berlin and the Computer is at V2 in Rotterdam without
someone there being able to connect to sound out, but Alsamixer shows
up correctly.

Thanks a lot! Someone should commit that to cvs.

i don't see the mails on ML, so not 100% sure how to fix (although i
guess above mentioned to add the new revision in the check in
snd_rme9652_create()...) 

could you send a patch?

Yes. In the old driver it just checks for 0xa and 0x64. Just add a
line to also check for 0xb.

Not right now. The computer is in Rotterdam and I'm in Berlin. It
crashed so I'm waiting for someone to arrive on location and restart
it. I don't have any Alsa stuff here at the moment. Let me know if you
still need it and I'll send it to you later.

it's in hdsp, not rme9652!

but i don't see any 0x64 there...


anyway, check the attached patch.  is it correct?

There was a mail by Justin few weeks ago, talking about the rev. 0x64.
