realtek has an altered version of alsa 1.09b with support for alc861.
It is in ftp://61.56.86.122/pc/hda/alc880d/realtek-linux-audiopack-3.4-9.tar.bz2.

Is there interest in porting it to the cvs version?

Thanks,
Rafael

Is this already in CVS or no?

We need a patch, instead of tarball.
Care to create a patch?

Sure. The order of the function has changed. This makes it a bit hard to find
out what has really changed. I expect to receive a motherboard with the
alc861 in 1 week and I should send a patch soon after. Maybe I will also send
a raw patch after I "fix" the reorder.

Attached is a patch against 1.0.9b. It includes most changes present
in the realtek tarball.

Unfortunately the motherboard with the alc861 hasn't arrived yet :(
I will test the patch and try to port it to the CVS as soon as I have it.

Thanks!

It seems that they are merged something from the pre-1.0.10, and add
something on it. Hopefully they'll release a newer version, and send
us a patch...

The addition of ALC861 support looks not too difficult. I'll prepare
patches later... maybe in the next week, but cannot promise now.

Nevertheless, their implementation of gpio-polling in the timer
callback looks pretty buggy. It has to be done in a workqueue
instead.

Fortunately, this is used only on ALC882. If someone has such a
board, don't use SMP kernel unless you love a system crash.
