Summary: Sound Blaster 24bit (SB0410) PCI card (in PCI-X
slot) not producing any sound
Description:
(see also the alsa-user thread with the same subject.)
The card is recognized, all modules load, mixer settings are ok. But aplay
playing a wav file hangs while never producing any sound.
Tested with alsa 1.0.9 and 1.0.10, kernel version 2.6.14.2 (stock,
non-suse)

Same problem with ALSA 1.0.11rc3. aplay commands hang (with strace showing
it stopped in poll as above) and OSS play command gets an input/output
error. Machine is an IBM eServer X-series 346 with a SB Live 24-bit
installed.
It appears the driver is not receiving any interrupts?

Summary: Sound Blaster 24bit (SB0410) PCI card (in PCI-X
slot) not producing any sound
Description:
(see also the alsa-user thread with the same subject.)
The card is recognized, all modules load, mixer settings are ok. But aplay
playing a wav file hangs while never producing any sound.
Tested with alsa 1.0.9 and 1.0.10, kernel version 2.6.14.2 (stock,
non-suse)

If the interrupt count does not increase when you try to play a sound it
means the problem is somewhere in the kernel (ACPI or interrupt routing)
and not with the ALSA driver.

Summary: Sound Blaster 24bit (SB0410) PCI card (in PCI-X

The card is recognized, all modules load, mixer settings are ok. But aplay
playing a wav file hangs while never producing any sound.

I tested a network card in the same slot in that machine and it is able to
receive interrupts and function normally, so I don't think there's a
problem with the interrupt routing on the system.
I'd suspect that the driver is somehow not programming the card correctly
to generate interrupts..

I tested a network card in the same slot in that machine and it is able to
receive interrupts and function normally, so I don't think there's a
problem with the interrupt routing on the system.
I'd suspect that the driver is somehow not programming the card correctly
to generate interrupts..

Summary: Sound Blaster 24bit (SB0410) PCI card (in PCI-X
slot) not producing any sound
Description:
(see also the alsa-user thread with the same subject.)
The card is recognized, all modules load, mixer settings are ok. But aplay
playing a wav file hangs while never producing any sound.
Tested with alsa 1.0.9 and 1.0.10, kernel version 2.6.14.2 (stock,
non-suse)

Summary: Sound Blaster 24bit (SB0410) PCI card (in PCI-X
slot) not producing any sound
Description:
(see also the alsa-user thread with the same subject.)
The card is recognized, all modules load, mixer settings are ok. But aplay
playing a wav file hangs while never producing any sound.
Tested with alsa 1.0.9 and 1.0.10, kernel version 2.6.14.2 (stock,
non-suse)

Summary: Sound Blaster 24bit (SB0410) PCI card (in PCI-X
slot) not producing any sound
Description:
(see also the alsa-user thread with the same subject.)
The card is recognized, all modules load, mixer settings are ok. But aplay
playing a wav file hangs while never producing any sound.
Tested with alsa 1.0.9 and 1.0.10, kernel version 2.6.14.2 (stock,
non-suse)

Same problem using ALSA 1.0.11rc3 on a 2.4.19 kernel.
ADDITIONAL INFO.
Using arecord, the card records data (with passthrough). If you watch the
contents of /proc/interrupts, the interrupt count climbs during use of
arecord, but not during aplay.
