I checked the sourceforge site, and it states that:
Project CVS Services:
Developer (SSH) CVS access online; pserver-based CVS access and ViewCVS
(web-based) access offline
(2003-01-14 14:04:19 - Project CVS Services) As of 2003-01-14, pserver-based
CVS repository access and ViewCVS (web-based) CVS repository access have been
taken offline as to stabilize CVS server performance for developers. These
services will be re-enabled as soon as the underlying scalability issues have
been analyzed and resolved (as soon as 2003-01-15, if possible). Additional
updates will be posted to the Site Status page as they become available. Your
patience is appreciated.
So I guess there is nothing to be done but wait...
Is it possible to make a snapshot available?
Pieter

For now, you can grab a snapshot of 0.9.0rc6 from
ftp://ftp.coelacanth.com/pub/audio/alsa-0.9.0rc6.tar.gz
This is close to being the most recent CVS release (13 January), and
includes the HDSP MIDI patch to alsa-kernel/pci/rme9652/hdsp.c.

This is the mirror site I was trying to remember:
http://www.tux.org/pub/sites/ftp.alsa-project.org/cvsexport/2003-01-14.tar.bz2
is the latest HEAD snapshot
or grab .../cvsroot/2003-01-14.tar.bz2 -- really gzipped -- for the
complete CVSROOT.

just a quick question -
do these require following the same instructions for compilation as
ordinary CVS?
thanks

Yes, the archives in cvsexport are checked-out development trees, so
you'll want to run 'cvscompile' in each directory, just as if you'd
checked them out with CVS yourself.
(The archives in cvsroot are images of the CVS repository itself, and
aren't what you want.)
