Summary: PCM channel doesn't exist!
Description:
Since the early release candidates of ALSA 1.0.11, up to the final version,
I seem to have lost the PCM channel from alsamixer.
======================================================================

quetzyg - 06-27-06 12:47
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, HG changeset patch against 1.0.12rc1 fixed the PCM issue!
PCM is back, but the volume is not affected at all. Being at 0% or 100%
its the same.
And, I used to have a Master channel as well.
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Quetzy Garcia

I guess you're using OSS apps? OSS kernel emulation doesn't support the
software volume control in alsa-lib. Use aoss instead.

OK, I uploaded the file generated by alsactl, and also the output of lspci
-vv regarding the soundcard.
The chipset in it, is a Realtek ALC880, with Uniwill Subsystem.
Here is my laptop manufacturer page:

Strange. Show the generated file via "alsactl -f file store". It's more
obvious than amixer output.
Also, provide more hardware information (the machine, the codec chip)
especially for HD-audio stuff. The behavior of that driver is sooooooooo
dependent upon the h/w and system you use.

No, all my apps are using ALSA (SoX, MPlayer, MOC, etc). I think that only
the flash plugin for firefox uses OSS.
