Subject: [ath9k-devel] ath9k-devel digest: multi-vif vs multi-wiphy
Date: Thu, 29 Apr 2010 17:35:27 +0200	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20100429153527.288070@gmx.net> (raw)

Hi all,

I am doing some tests creating multiple virtual interfaces as multi-vif and multi-wiphy in an ath9k and I have some questions related to it.

If I create multi-vif (and therefore one single channel is used) I should be able to connect i.e. two vif to two different BSS working on the same channel. But it does not work or at least not in my test. So, the multi-vif does not function like multi-wiphy, where the scheduler switches between radios (and therefore channels). So my question is, is it planned to create a kind of scheduler for the multi-vif to be able to connect them to different BSS or for some reasons it is not possible or irrelevant for the developer and if this is the case; is it always necessary to create first multi-wiphys and then assign a vif to each of them? or are you considered it for future changes?

Please correct me if some of my statements are wrong.

Thanks in advance for your response

Best regards

Lorna Glez.
