I can't reproduce these build failures here. They seem to happen only on your

The uClibc bug about setreuid().
What do we do about this one? It still isn't fixed upstream. Should we
simply disable uClibc for static builds? (But then we would only have
musl left as a C library compatible with static builds). Or do we
simply blacklist for now the packages that are known to use the symbols
causing problems?

Why don't we simply add host-ncurses to the host-mysql dependencies?
Nathaniel, can you reproduce this issue on your autobuilder, and see if
adding host-ncurses to the dependencies of host mysql fixes the problem?

solution than blacklisting configurations that contain Qt4 Webkit and
that use this toolchain. Opinions?

zmqpp is using some C++ features that are too new for the gcc 4.3.x

It seem commit d81d202e97258e (mysql: host variant needs ncurses as well) by
Peter should fix this issue.

Ah, indeed, missed this one. We'll see if host-mysql issues related to
this continue to pop up or not, but I suspect Peter's commit should fix
those.
Thanks for noticing this!

uClibc with static linking is useful for quite some setups, so I would
find it a pity to globally disable it. Let's just disable the affected
packages with a comment.

Yes, I also think we should just blacklist it.

I also looked at the log, and it doesn't make sense to me. I haven't

So you suggest to disable them within Buildroot, or through an
exception in the autobuild-run script?
Advantage of doing it in the autobuild-run script: we don't need to
propagate to all the reverse dependencies. The script will exclude any
configuration that has the problematic package selected with a uClibc
toolchain.
Drawback of doing it in the autobuild-run script: normal users of
Buildroot may run into the issue.

Is there other packages than cdrkit? If the packages don't have huge
reverse dependencies then I would prefer to disable them in Buildroot.

Why not to buildroot? It's a toolchain we have a preset for, right?

Hi,
I still[1] can not reproduce the bug on my machine. Apparently it happens
only on Peter?s autobuilder: http://autobuild.buildroot.net/?reason=clamav-
0.98.4.
@Peter: Could you please try this patch locally on your autobuilder?

This happens because for ARC in Linux kernel we don't have
__ARCH_WANT_SYSCALL_DEPRECATED.
So a number of syscalls is not enabled in
"include/asm-generic/unistd.h".
From the name of this define I would assume that we should avoid using
those syscalls. So probably "radvd" should be updated.
Any thoughts?

Hi,
actually Peter commented on v1 of my patch to fix this bug ;)
Just sent v2: http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/412860/
Yann commented on my glmark2 patch, not committed to buildroot yet, which
should depend on mesa3d for the time being.

I did a manual test build on gcc16 and I see:

Thanks, but that doesn't work:
Applying buildroot-libtool-v2.4.patch using patch:
patching file ltmain.sh
(cd /home/peko/tmp/buildroot/output/build/clamav-0.98.5/ && ... \
LIBBZ2_PREFIX=/home/peko/tmp/buildroot/output/host/usr/arm-buildroot-linux-gnueabi/sysroot/usr ac_cv_c_mmap_private=yes CONFIG_SITE=/dev/null ./configure
..
checking how to link with libbz2... /usr/lib/libbz2.so
checking for BZ2_bzDecompressInit in -lbz2... no
checking bzlib.h usability... yes
checking bzlib.h presence... yes
and it naturally still fails at the linking step.
Looking closer at the configure script I see we need to pass
ac_cv_libbz2_libs and ac_cv_libbz2_ltlibs instead. With that done it
works.
I'll cook a patch to do so.

Ok, thanks for the analysis. Going a bit further, the issue is that
when __NR_sysctl is not defined, uClibc will not provide an
implementation of sysctl(), but it will continue to install
<sys/sysctl.h>, which provides the prototype for sysctl().
Looking at the radvd code, the call to sysctl() is actually optional,
depending on whether the configure script has found <sys/sysctl.h>. So
it breaks in our case, because <sys/sysctl.h> is there, but the
sysctl() function is not actually implemented.
So I see two possible solutions (possibly non exclusive) :
1) Fix uClibc so that it doesn't install <sys/sysctl.h> when sysctl()
is not available.
2) Fix radvd configure check so that instead of checking if
<sys/sysctl.h> is available, check if the sysctl() function is
actually present. I don't remember if AC_CHECK_FUNCS() so a
compile+link test or just a compile test. If it does just a compile
test, then it will not detect the problem. If that's the case, then
use AC_TRY_LINK() would work.
Best regards,
Thomas Petazzoni
