No, you should have kept staging, because it installs a library.
The rule is:
- only executable: keep the defaults (target=Y, staging=N)
- only installs static libs: target=N, staging=Y
- install shared libs: target=Y, staging=Y
So, in your case, you want to keep the default for target, but also
instal in staging.
