Hi everyone,

Buildroot doesn't have any official logo - The website has used the
busybox logo of the simple reason that it was a copy of the busybox
website, but we'te not busybox, so that's kind of silly.

Therefore I decided to do something about it.. Now, I'm far from a
graphics artist, so bear with me - But here goes:

http://buildroot.eu/images/logo.png

And here's how it looks in small on the website:

http://buildroot.eu

What do you think? Too ugly for words? ;) If someone wants to step up
and create something nicer, then that's fine by me - But I think we
should atleast have a logo.

Good idea, and I think that even without being a graphics artist, you
created a nice-looking logo.

On overall, I'm very happy to see the Buildroot project moving again
under your strong impulsion. I wish I could contribute a little bit
more.

Sincerly,

Thomas

Also new to the list, but since you asked:

I find it hard to read "Making Embedded Linux Easy" when it crosses over
the black drop shadow on the hard hat.. can you add a
border/shadow/color to make it stand out a little more?

otherwise I like it

Hi,

Just my 2 cents: I like the logo a lot and I think it's a very good idea
to have an own logo of Buildroot.

Now I'm wondering if it is possible to put this logo on the website of
the company I work for?
We use a lot of technologies, including Buildroot, which we promote on
the website.
Since our core bussiness is consultancy in free and open source
software, Buildroot is an often used solution.

Do you agree with this? Do you think the logo is in a final state or
not?
And if the logo changes, will the URL eventually be the same as it is
now?

Regards,
Roeland

Agreed

Get a license on the logo from day one, there are several to choose
from, but I have not a lot of knowledge about licenses on images.

Exactly, and you are probably not the only one. I would like to use in
presentation when I show of the tools available for Atmel AVR32 and
AT91 products.

It got added to SVN, so at least consider it a RC ;)

Yes, that should be fine, as long as BR isn't misrepresented. I
haven't heard any big criticism of the logo, so I think you can
consider it pretty much final. The idea is to keep the URL constant.

I guess we should come up with a license for the logo, like creative
commons attribute or the Debian logo license which goes:

Copyright (c) 1999 Software in the Public Interest this logo or a
modified version may be used by anyone to refer to the Debian project,
but does not indicate endorsement by the project.

That seems directly transferable to buildroot - What does the rest of
you say?

Yeah, The Debian one seems nice and simple to me:

http://www.debian.org/logos/index.en.html (the 'with Debian' part).

No problem for me.
