Hi,
I want to setup a ceph cluster with 4 osds ( one OSD per disk), 2 mons, 1
mds. Please help me to configure this.
I have a machine with following hardware:
4 hard disks ( each 500GB).
/dev/sda - 500G ( OS )
/dev/sdb - 500G
/dev/sdc - 500G
/dev/sdd - 500G
OS: ubuntu 12.O4 server ( 64 bit )
Thanks,
Chandra.

I'm sorry, perhaps part of the email got cut or something, but all I see is a snippet of strace where things succeed -- what's the error you saw? >>strace ceph -a start > > rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [PIPE], NULL, 8) = 0 > rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, [PIPE], [PIPE], 8) = 0 > mmap(NULL, 8392704, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS|MAP_STACK, > -1, 0) = 0x7f1cc5a49000 > mprotect(0x7f1cc5a49000, 4096, PROT_NONE) = 0 > clone(child_stack=0x7f1cc6248f70, > flags=CLONE_VM|CLONE_FS|CLONE_FILES|CLONE_SIGHAND|CLONE_THREAD|CLONE_SYSVSEM > |CLONE_SETTLS|CLONE_PARENT_SETTID|CLONE_CHILD_CLEARTID, > parent_tidptr=0x7f1cc62499d0, tls=0x7f1cc6249700, > child_tidptr=0x7f1cc62499d0) = > 21042 > rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [PIPE], NULL, 8) = 0 > rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, [PIPE], [PIPE], 8) = 0 > mmap(NULL, 1052672, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, > MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS|MAP_STACK, > -1, 0) = 0x7f1ccaa98000 > mprotect(0x7f1ccaa98000, 4096, PROT_NONE) = 0 > clone(child_stack=0x7f1ccab97f70, > flags=CLONE_VM|CLONE_FS|CLONE_FILES|CLONE_SIGHAND|CLONE_THREAD| > CLONE_SYSVSEM|CLONE_SETTLS|CLONE_PARENT_SETTID|CLONE_CHILD_CLEARTID, > parent_tidptr=0x7f1ccab989d0, tls=0x7f1ccab98700, child_tidptr=0x7f1ccab989d0) = > 21043 > rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [PIPE], NULL, 8) = 0 > futex(0x201b904, FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE, 1, NULL -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe ceph-devel" in the body of a message to majordomo@vger.kernel.org More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 11+ messages in thread

Please help me to configure this. You almost certainly do not want to have 2 MON nodes in your cluster; an odd number of nodes is strongly recommended. (Reason: a strict majority of MON odes must be up and functional to maintain quorum; increasing the number of MONs from 1 to 2 makes failures more likely but does not increase resiliency.)
