Looks like the GPU locks up on resume, and the GPU reset fails to get it back
in shape.

Does this also happen with DPM disabled?

Yes, setting kernel parameter radeon.dpm=0 doesn't help.

Also, I need to reboot the machine in order to get hardware acceleration
working again. If I try to restart X after the crash it reverts to software
rendering with Xorg.log complaining that "Screen 0 is not DRI2 capable".
Nothing on dmesg though.
