Hi Jane,
Welcome to the Git community and welcome to Outreachy!
It's great to see your introduction here. Going through "My First Contribution" is a wonderful way to start. Don't worry if the codebase feels new or overwhelming at first—take it step by step, and you will get the hang of it very quickly.
Wishing you the best of luck with your first microproject and your contribution journey!
Kind regards,
Keryle

Hi everyone,
My name is Jane Irungu, a software developer from Nairobi, Kenya, and
I am an Outreachy applicant. I’m interested in the project “Reduce
Git’s global state to enable Git’s libification” and would like to
start contributing.
I have written C in a university project and I am comfortable with the
command line and shell scripting. I am new to Git’s codebase and to
contributing through patches on the mailing list.
So far I have read MyFirstContribution. I would appreciate any advice
on good first steps or a suitable microproject to start with.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Jane Irungu.

When sending patches, I will advise you to send you to cc the mentors.
You can go through all the previous mentor/Git contributor comments on
other applicants patches. All other things you need to know are on the
Outreachy Git landing page.
