It's a type of serial connection, better suited for DSL-speeds than standard
RS-232.

Try vtun - http://vtun.sourceforge.net/

It runs on linux, freebsd and solaris, and supports compression and
encryption; if you're feeling wild, you can even tunnel raw ethernet frames,
and set up a tunneled ethernet-bridge.
