     There has been a tiny free C compiler (Small-C) available for
a long time; it was originally written for CP/M so it may be small
enough for ELKS.  I'm not really very proficient at K&R C, but I
have managed to compile three of the four parts of the compiler with
BCC.  I may have the CP/M version on an old CDROM; it might be even
smaller.  I'll check into this more and report back.

Indeed Ken Martwick you are correct. That compiler did originally live
on CP/M, and was successfully ported to the MS-DOS platform. I have it
for MS-DOS. And I have used it, to write programs that were designed for
extreme simplicity. I can not remember now, but there's a site whose
specialty is remembering the things the CP/M OS could do it is available
there, I believe. I think the MS-DOS platform version could be cross
compiled onto working in this target environment. But I won't bet on it.
As to where I had found it, I don't remember that. But if any of you
want it, let me know, and I'll dig it up, and work on making it
available, one way or another. Please do this request off list. First.
