While I am new to the list, I have experience using Linux, and have
referenced your archives for messages about the Sibo/Psion 3a. Is there
a page I can look at that contains info specifically targeted to those
wanting to get the Series 3A up and running Elks? I know this is a
relatively rudimentary question, so your patience is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Matthew

Can the psion 3a be made to run Elks? If so, can someone point me to the
relevant information?
Thanks,

Yes the 3a is supported. Although the current cvs isn't working 100%.
You will need a 128k flash disk for the disk image.
Out of date but still essentially correct instructions here:

If you have any problems mail me.
I hope to get a chance to look at the issues shortly - but work is
hugely busy.
Paul

Hi Paul & list,
You may remember that ELKS didn't work on my Psion 3,
since it only has 256k RAM which isn't enough to put the kernel in.
I've been wondering; there has been some discussion on the list recently
of getting swap working. Now, given that my Psion 3 has a spare 256k
flash disk, in addition to the required 128k disk (and there are two
slots so both disks can be inserted at the same time), perhaps it would be
possible to use the second disk with swapping to make the kernel fit? The
256k RAM plus the 256k swap disk would make 512k total memory, which IIRC
is what the Psion 3a/3c have as RAM and so must be big enough for the
kernel.
If anyone thinks this is worth trying, I'd love to have a go (but I'll
probably need a lot of help!)
Best wishes,
Bill.

My 3C has 2MB of RAM, same as the 3MX has
Don't think ELKS will use it......

I wonder if anyone has a SSD to sell for cheap on this list!?
Thanks,
Matthew
