Greetings all!

I have moved the ELKS Git repository to GitHub due to SourceForge's installer adware hijacking. Though this policy does not directly affect ELKS, I refuse to leave the project on a host that believes it is ethical to hijack major open source software installer downloads with adware installers. I will update the existing ELKS website with this information when I have time to do so.

The new repository can be accessed at https://github.com/jbruchon/elks and can be checked out via the same URL with a ".git" added to the end. There has been no work on ELKS since about 8 months ago, but I am still the active maintainer and I will continue to push patches and help in any way I am capable.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or the list (but please don't do both at once since I subscribe to the list.)

Hello!
How do you mean " SourceForge's installer adware hijacking"? Everytime
I visit their sites for some examples of supposedly open source
software there I do not see any of that. I freely admit their
preposterous advertising scheme is so bad its beneath notice but it
can't be as bad as you might think. They do also maintain a GIT
repository service there, as well as the usual ones.

Go to filezilla-project.org and attempt to download FileZilla FTP client software for Windows. You'll find that the file offered up is the "SFInstaller" executable that tries to push numerous "carefully selected sponsor offers" on you before it downloads and runs the real installer for FileZilla. There are multiple recent articles on Slashdot about this issue as well.

Hello!
I see.

Then their stunt has ended because I just grabbed a copy of the
product and it installed itself without any of that stupid stuff. You
went through a good job of translating the project from the fouled up
mess on SF and onto a good platform which is GitHub, we can let it
stay there for a longer while.
