... ciao:
  
    i have sendmail setup for this domain.  in /etc/mail/access i havee
an ever growing list of domains to ignore.  one of these, 'hotmail'.
  
    my son, and a few others have hotmail accounts, and i have included
them with an "OK" token.  however, i am not able to send mail through
sendmail to them.  what have i missed ...

did you update access.db? You should run:

cd /etc/mail
makemap hash access<access

then restart sendmail.

You don't need to restart the sendmail daemon if you change a keyed
map ("db" or "dbm" files, referenced by a "K" directive in
sendmail.cf). Sendmail will automatically re-open the file if it
changes.

OTOH, you do need to restart it if you change a class file (plain
text, referenced by an "F" directive, e.g. sendmail.cw or
local-host-names).
