Not really.

It is already taken care of in the following way.
PCIe controller's device-tree node has an entry with a phandle of BPMP-FW's node
to get a handle of it and PCIe driver uses tegra_bpmp_get() API for that.
This API returns -EPROBE_DEFER if BPMP-FW's driver is not ready yet, which guarantees
that PCIe driver gets loaded only after BPMP-FW's driver and this order is followed
during noirq phase also.

Thanks for that.
with this version we won't have any conflict.

Ack for going through mm tree.

The main rationale behind starting on this was that ~15 panel drivers
already implements logic to prevent the prepare/enable/disable/unprepare
functions to be called out of order.
$ cd drivers/gpu/drm/panel/; git grep enabled | grep bool | wc -l

Several of the panel drivers also implements a
mipi_dsi_driver.shutdown() or platform_driver.shutdown().
To the best of my knowledge we cannot guarantee that the upper layers
have done the proper disable()/unprepare() dance before a shutdown.
So the flags exists to allow the driver to unconditionally call
disable() / unprepare() in the shutdown methods.
Same goes for *_driver.remove()

One improvement could be to detect if the panel is prepare() when
upper layers call enable() and warn/error in this situation.
With the current implementation this is not checked at all.
Likewise for unprepare() (require it was never enabled or disable() was
caled first)

I claim the check exists for the benefit of .remove and .shutdown,
so we could also check if prepare() or enable() is called twice.

Adding logic to call prepare() automagically would hide probems in upper
layers and this was only briefly considered - and discarded as hiding
bugs.

So to sum up:
- Moving the checks from drivers to the core is a good thing
- The core shall check that a panel is prepared when enable is called
  and error out if not (or warn).
- The core shall check that a panel is disabled when unprepare is called
  and error out if not (or warn).
  The core shall check if prepare() and enable() is called out of order.

The patch needs to be extended to cover the last three points.

Laurent / Emil / Thierry - agree/comments?

Note: Did a quick round to see if could spot any wrong use of
drm_panel_* functions.
Most looked good, but then I did not do a throughly check.

bridge/analogix/analogix_dp_core.c looks fishy.
Looks like analogix_dp_prepare_panel() is a nop the way it is called.
I did not look too much on this, maybe I am wrong.

In-Reply-To: <cover.1565022597.git.joabreu@synopsys.com>

Implement the TX Queue Weight callback. In order for this to be active
we also need to set ETS algorithm when configuring Queue.

* [PATCH net-next 10/26] net: stmmac: Implement Safety Features in XGMAC core
From: Jose Abreu @ 2019-08-05 16:44 UTC (permalink / raw)
  To: netdev
  Cc: Jose Abreu, Joao Pinto, Alexandre Torgue, linux-kernel,

I know very little about the topic, but I don't understand how the spec
as proposed allows an accurate reading of the relation between physical
time and stolen time simultaneously. In other words, could you draw
Figure 1 of the spec from within the guest? Or is it a non-objective?

For example, if you read the stolen time before you read CNTVCT_EL0,
isn't it possible for a lengthy event like a migration to occur between
the two reads, causing the stolen time to be obsolete and off by seconds?

Even better if this generated the Kconfig entry directly ;). Anyway,
it's fine as it is.

Can we not still keep a BUILD_BUG_ON() for KASAN_SHADOW_OFFSET around,
even if it does the same calculation as the script?

Definitely. stage2_set_pte() won't fail for a non-IO overlapping
mapping, and will just treat it as guest memory. If this overlaps with a
memslot, we'll never be able to fault that page in, ending up with
interesting memory corruption... :-/

That's one of the reasons why I think option (2) in your earlier email
is an interesting one, as it sidesteps a whole lot of ugly and hard to
test corner cases.

Thanks,

Several functions use for_each_child_of_node() loop with a break to find
a matching child node. Although each iteration of
for_each_child_of_node puts the previous node, but early exit from loop
misses it. This leads to leak of device node.
