Refactor probe() to use per-variant khadas_mcu_data
instead of hardcoded globals.
Add dedicated regmap configuration and device data for the VIM4 MCU,
with its own volatile/writeable registers.
Add the fan control register
(0–100 levels vs 0–3 for previous supported boards).
Add a new compatible string "khadas,vim4-mcu".

Replace the hardcoded MAX_LEVEL constant and fan register
with values read from platform_data (fan_reg, max_level),
as new MCUs need different values.
Optionally acquire and enable a "fan" regulator supply
at probe time and on resume,
so boards that gate fan power through a regulator are handled.

The Khadas VIM4 board features a different MCU variant compared to
previous VIM boards.
While it shares the same I2C-based communication model,
it differs in some ways:
- A distinct register map with its own volatile/writeable register set
- A fan control with 0–100 levels instead of the 0–3 levels previously
- A fan power supply gated through a regulator
This series adds support for this new variant by:
1. Refactoring the khadas-mcu MFD driver to use per-variant data
structures (regmap config, cells, fan platform data),
and adding the khadas,vim4-mcu compatible string.
2. Extending the fan thermal driver to retrieve the fan register
and maximum level from platform_data,
and to optionally manage a power regulator for the fan supply.
3. Adding the corresponding DTS node for the VIM4, wiring the MCU to
the I2C AO_A bus and exposing it as a thermal cooling device.

While the GCC and Clang compilers already define __ASSEMBLER__
automatically when compiling assembly code, __ASSEMBLY__ is a
macro that only gets defined by the Makefiles in the kernel.
This can be very confusing when switching between userspace
and kernelspace coding, or when dealing with uapi headers that
rather should use __ASSEMBLER__ instead. So let's standardize now
on the __ASSEMBLER__ macro that is provided by the compilers.
This is a completely mechanical patch (done with a simple "sed -i"
statement).

Hi Paolo,
I looked at the issue reported by Sashiko for patch 2/2 and I will send
a dedicated patch to address it but I guess this problem is not strictly
related to this patch since we already have the reported issue upstream
even without this patch (please consider dma_unmap_single() in
airoha_qdma_cleanup_tx_queue()).
Moreover, in this patch I want to just add missing bits in
airoha_qdma_cleanup_tx_queue().

Only one concern left: clk_get_rate() should only be called on enabled
clocks. I don't know the architecture details and how expensive it is to

This has the downside that clk is kept enabled the whole driver
lifetime, but that's the easiest way to make your fix honor the clk API
constraints. This allows to fast-track the patch fixing the sleeping
function called from invalid context issue and the optimisation can then
be addressed with more time during the next development cycles.

I think you have the issue backwards. There is no provider that is needed
by the clock controller. The clock controller is needed by everything else.
So the clock controller is not deferred. All other things are deferred because
of the clock controller.
I understand that probe deferring is not there for nothing. But I would also
argue that the initcall levels are also not there for nothing. IMO a chip
clock controller is an architecture driver, and belongs in arch_. Whether this
is the correct way to do it, or whether this driver should be able to be
compiled as a module is a separate discussion.

Yes. That's why this patch changes to call
cscfg_csdev_enable_active_config() after taking a mode.

This is not true.
at the time of etm4_disable_sysfs() "mode" is already taken
(whether sysfs or perf). In this situation, it's enough to
call cscfg_csdev_disable_active_config() before chaning
mode to DISABLED.

This is not true ane make a situation more complex.
If we get config in SMP call, that would be a problem when some user is
trying to modify config.
IOW, while user modifying config via sysfs, and SMP call happens,
it makes a dead lock. so for this if we try to grab the lock in SMP call,
we should change every sysfs raw_spin_lock() into raw_spin_lock_irqsave().
Instead of this it would be much clear and simpler to get config in here
rather than to add some latencies via sysfs.

The byte-cntr function provided by the CTCU device is used to transfer data
from the ETR buffer to the userspace. An interrupt is triggered if the data
size exceeds the threshold set in the BYTECNTRVAL register. The interrupt
handler counts the number of triggered interruptions and the read function
will read the data from the synced ETR buffer.
Switching the sysfs_buf when current buffer is full or the timeout is
triggered and resets rrp and rwp registers after switched the buffer.
The synced buffer will become available for reading after the switch.

start -> ctcu_enable(ctcu_byte_cntr_start) -> tmc_enable_etr_sink ->
tmc_read_prepare_etr(jump to tmc_read_prepare_byte_cntr) ->

Add an interrupt property to CTCU device. The interrupt will be triggered
when the data size in the ETR buffer exceeds the threshold of the
BYTECNTRVAL register. Programming a threshold in the BYTECNTRVAL register
of CTCU device will enable the interrupt.

The byte-cntr function provided by the CTCU device is used to count the
trace data entering the ETR. An interrupt is triggered if the data size
exceeds the threshold set in the BYTECNTRVAL register. The interrupt
handler counts the number of triggered interruptions.
Based on this concept, the irq_cnt can be used to determine whether
the etr_buf is full. The ETR device will be disabled when the active
etr_buf is nearly full or a timeout occurs. The nearly full buffer will
be switched to background after synced. A new buffer will be picked from
the etr_buf_list, then restart the ETR device.
The byte-cntr reading functions can access data from the synced and
deactivated buffer, transferring trace data from the etr_buf to userspace
without stopping the ETR device.
The byte-cntr read operation has integrated with the file node tmc_etr,
for example:

Introduce functions for creating and inserting or removing the
etr_buf_node to/from the etr_buf_list.
The byte-cntr functionality requires two etr_buf to receive trace data.
The active etr_buf collects the trace data from source device, while the
byte-cntr reading function accesses the deactivated etr_buf after is
has been filled and synced, transferring data to the userspace.

Remove ctcu_get_active_port from CTCU module and add it to the core
framework.
The port number is crucial for the CTCU device to identify which ETR
it serves. With the port number we can correctly get required parameters
of the CTCU device in TMC module.
