Sorry for not batching these. There shouldn't be any more in the
immediate future :)

In PATH can anybody point me to:

The meaning of the first 3 characters of the mode field.
The meaning of rdev.

The mode field is in octal. This is the sticky * setuid bits. Look at fstat 
man page for st_mode.

root device for the file in question.
