If I execute on my 3870 Ipaq
l2ping 00:60:57:35:81:B6
Where the BDAddr is of a Nokial 6310 telephone
I get the above error.
Hcidump -x shows
< HCI Command: Create Connection(0x01|0x0005) plen 13

If I read the specs properly 0x1f is a 'unspecified error' ;-(
What could be wrong ?

why is this device running in security mode 3 ??? As I always said, you
should use "auth" and "encrypt" only if you know what you are doing. And
btw the "good old" 0x72 firmware is old and can result in unexpected
behaviour with non-CSR chips.

Can I upgrade that firmware on an Ipaq 3870 ???

it should be possible, but I don't think that you will get a firmware
file for it or even a tool that can do it.

You should at least try this, because I never had any problems with my
iPAQ 3970 and any mobile phone.

We can't get any further without a protocol analyzer. However you might
wanna ask a Nokia Service Shop to update your mobile phone.

I just disconnected my Ipaq-> Desktop BNEP connection.
And even now hcitool scan on my desktop can only find the phone and NOT the
Ipaq.
hcitool scan on the Ipaq does not reveal ANY device (not even the desktop)
????!?
Why has it all of a sudden broke down ? Could the BT hardware be in an 'odd'
state ? Might Depleting the battery help ?

the battery should have nothing to do with it, but the hardware could be

I was hoping a battery depletion would 'reset' hardware
could that kernel 'freeze' have cause this ?

it looks like a link manager problem in some way. However this can't be
debugged without a protocol analyzer.
