 Hi !

 I try to get a connection between two pc using bluetooth.
 My hardware: AVM Fritz AP-X ISDN and one AVM BlueFritz USB Stick.
The AVM-Web-Page says that it is possible on Windows so perhaps it is possible
on linux as well?

I have Suse Linux 9.1. The USB Stick is working under linux. I get internet
connection and can see the access point with hcitool scan.
As I connect just the AP-x to my computer hcitool scan finds no device.

Perhaps my question is answered in the feature page of holtmann.org but I
don't really understand it. The following information is given there:

Vendor Model Type Features HCI Ver	LMP Version Manufacturer
AVM  	BlueFRITZ! AP-X  	ISDN  	0x2f 0x06 0x04 0x00  	   	1.1  (0x0001)  	AVM
AVM 	BlueFRITZ! AP-X 	ISDN 	0x2f 0xbe 0x05 0x00 	  		1.1  (0x0001) 	AVM

What does the numbers for "Featrues" mean? And what is LMP?

Perhaps someone can help me. Thanks

Christoph Schuetz

how should this work if you only have one BlueFRITZ! USB? To connect two
machines you need at least a second USB adapter.

If you are connected then sometimes no other devices are shown. This
depends on the link manager firmware inside the dongle.

Check the Bluetooth specification for more details about LMP.

Hi Marcel!

In fact it should be poosible on windows to connect a Pc with a AP-x to=20
another with a USB-Stick if you have two windows-machines.=20

You find the following information on the avm-sites:

"Zuvor muss allerdings der Access Point mit dem entsprechenden "PAN-f=E4h=
igen"=20

Verbindung =FCber USB. Nach Firmware- und Treiberupdate und anschlie=DFen=
dem=20
Neustart steht der dieser als Netzwerk-Comuter zur Verf=FCgung."

(http://www.avm.de/de/Service/AVM_Service_Portale/BlueFRITZ_Startpaket/Pr=
axis_und_Tipps/bluefritz_netzwerk.html)

When I start my linux-machine the Bluetooth LED at the AP-x is on after t=
he=20
bluetooth daemon starts. So I thought that a Bluetooth-connection with th=
e=20
Ap-x is possible.=20
But if it is not working under linux it is not really a great problem. Th=
e=20
notebook that my wive has is running with windows xp, I couldn't convince=
=20
her. If I need a connection for a Backup, I have to change the devices=20
USB-Stick for linux and AP-x for windows. The other way round it would be=
=20
more convenient.

Thanks for your work on bluez (and your answer)

Christoph Schuetz

this is not a Bluetooth problem. You need a driver for the USB part of
the BlueFRITZ! AP-X. If AVM haven't changed anything then there is no
driver available for it, besides the binary driver from AVM. I think it
is easier to buy another BlueFRITZ! USB and then connect everything.

Marcel
