[Bluez-users] Unidentified Bluetooth CF card

Ok I got a cheap CF Bluetooth card from ebay. I got it a while ago and
keep trying to make it work... but can't (all the others I have no
problem with...)

I think it's a 'Mavin' - there are pictures of the front and back at:

	http://mjr.org/bt/closeup.jpg

The main chips inside (to save you needing to to the pics :O) are:
	OXCF950
	BC212
	29LV800BA-90

And the markings are:
	Model No.:MCF-M2.1
	60m
	S/N:MCF 0001773
	Made in Taiwan

I've tried various conf definitions and drivers but get nothing.

weeblu:/etc/bluetooth# cardctl ident 1
  product info: "CF CARD", "GENERIC", "", ""
  manfid: 0x0279, 0x950b
  function: 2 (serial)

I've tried stuff like:
	
card "Noname... Compact Flash Card"
  manfid 0x0279, 0x950b
  bind "btuart_cs"
and
  bind "bt950_cs"

Also tried the bt950 driver and tried to compile the bt2000e driver
(Since this card seems to have the Oxford Semi CS950 chip in it)

All I get are lines like:

try to use serial_cs and then use hciattach with the correct parameters.

I'm sorry - I forgot to mention that I had tried serial_cs and
hciattach.

I've just tried again - tried any,ericsson,digi,csr,bboxes,xircom,swave,bcsp...

No luck. I tried any with various speeds - no luck.

Does it matter that this card definately has the Oxford Semi OXCF950
UART? hciattach does not seem to have any special init code for it,
unlike the various other uarts.

Any more ideas?

What kernel do you use. Before few weeks Marcel writes, that there are problem 
in linux serial driver in 2.6 kernel tree. Some cards with UART doesn't work.
I don't know, if problem is still here, but you can try 2.4 kernel with 
hciattach...

I am using kernel 2.4.27-mh1

Note - a few of the hciattach attempts cause an error but most 'work'
but hciconfig shows a card with no 'mac' address, and which does not
work.

I've seen such error-messages when hciattach $DEVICE $MANFID is called
without adding the correct speed.
Have a look at /etc/pcmcia/bluetooth and try e.g.
hciattach $DEVICE $MANFID 115200 
manually. 
It helped here with a card from Brainboxes.

Above link shows my card - though it does not say mavin/tec anywhere on
it.

That page points to Marcel's webpage to show that their card works with
btuart_cs...

/me tries btuart_cs again!

Of course just because the model number matches precisely and the card
looks identical... doesn't mean that the board inside is the same. Sigh!

I think there was something like this. They changed from an Ericsson
chip to a CSR chip, but they kept the initial baud rate of 57600. Try to
play with it, because hciattach offers you an switch for the initial
baud rate setting.
