I have up to date bt packages and dmesg shows clean install/recognition
of Logitech usb/bt dongle.

Yet when I check messages.log it shows "hci0 cannot connect" and hcidev
shows no devices.

I have googled for an hour and it seems many have this issue and I see
no solution.

What do I need to do in order for bt support to work?

Recognition of devices on bus doesn't mean driver is available and
hardware is supported...

Imagine that!

When I tried my 3rd bluetooth dongle (ActionTec) I finally get
connection, etc.

Now to see how far along gnome/kde bluetooth support is...I'm not seeing
much so far.
