I have bluez with bluez-utils-2.7 on two RH 8.0 systems (lx1 and lx2).

When I start rctest -r on lx1 without starting rctest -s on lx2, lx2 hangs
and I have to switch it off and on to restart. This happens EVERY TIME
I try this.

This does not happen when I run l2test in any way. Does it prove that
there is a problem with RFCOMM? I have not seen this problem in
the mailing list. If I have missed it, please inform.

I have not tried the rfcomm transfer the other way because I share lx1
with others.

Thanks in anticipation,
Swarup

Hi Swarup,

please upgrade to bluez-utils-2.8 first. What kernel do you use?

I don't get the point how lx2 can hang when you listen at lx1. Are these
two different machines or two dongles connected to the same machine?

Actually I don't know. Show us "hcidump -x" from both machines.

Regards

Marcel

    I will get the hcidump data and get back.

you should have said this earlier. The 2.6.0 has a module reference
counting bug. Update to 2.6.8-rc2 and everything should work fine.

I have several bluetooth receivers. In rfcomm.conf I have them listed
and the one I want to use I uncomment. How do I get rfcomm to pickup the
changes? I can not seem to get rfcomm to pickup the new device.

Here is the pertinent rfcomm.conf section:

rfcomm0 {
         # Automatically bind the device at startup
         bind yes;

         # Bluetooth address of the device
         #device 00:08:1B:C0:D3:1F;
         #device 00:0B:0D:18:15:4F;
         #GPSlim240
         device 00:0B:0D:6D:E2:E6;

         # RFCOMM channel for the connection
#       channel 1;
}
