Dear,

I am a very new user to linux. I am currently using mandrake linux,
and i bought a USB bluetooth Adapter. I wondering how to install it
into the linux, and i found that people saying that BlueZ will be the
bluetooth stack for linux. So i download it, and actually...now i am
stuck...i cant find any setup.exe or install.exe inside... hmmm, i
knew that linux is a lot different from Windows, so i hope that if
possible, you can teach me on how to make my usb bluetooth work.

thank you~

Best Regard,
Wen Biau

You shouldn't need to install BlueZ from the bluez homepage at all if you
use a recent Linux distro. Almost all distros have a packaging system where
you can choose what software you want to install. The BlueZ bluetooth stack
is normally already installed. Query your package manager for things related
to bluetooth and install those that seem reasonable. Depending on your
distro and the desktop environment your using you'll probably find a
bluetooth icon somewhere once your bluetooth adapter has been recognized (if
it's recognized that is). From there it highly depends on what your planning
to do with it.

I'd recommend you to search the internet for your distro and bluetooth to
find some sort of tutorial. Make sure it's a recent one. Ask in the mailing
lists/forums/chats of your distro for advice on how to set things up.

I can't give you more precise advice because I haven't used Mandrake for a
long time.

Have fun

Arthur
