* [PATCH] irqchip/ls-scfg-msi: update Layerscape SCFG MSI driver

1. The patch uses soc_device_match() to match the SoC family
and revision instead of DTS compatible, because compatible cannot
describe the SoC revision information.
2. The patch provides a new method to support Layerscape
SCFG MSI. It tries to assign a dedicated MSIR to every core.
When changing a MSI interrupt affinity, the MSI message
data will be changed to refer to a new MSIR that has
been associated with the core.

1. The different version of a SoC may have different MSI
implementation. But compatible "fsl,<soc-name>-msi" can not describe
the SoC version. The MSI driver will use SoC match interface to get
SoC type and version instead of compatible string. So all MSI node
can use the common compatible "fsl,ls-scfg-msi" and the original
compatible is unnecessary.

2. Layerscape SoCs may have one or several MSI controllers.
In order to increase MSI interrupt number of a PCIe, the patch
moves all MSI node into the parent node "msi-controller". So a
PCIe can request MSI from all the MSI controllers.

We have a board that embeds an FPGA with multiple functions (MFD driver) that is
connected to the the PCIe bus with a PCIe switch (more precisely PLX/Avago's
8714), since we have several PCIe devices on the board.

The MFD driver that I have written and tested on the development boards relies
on a device tree node to configure the several "sub-devices" embedded in the
FPGA. On the testing setup, this was pretty simple since the CPU dev board has
no PCIe switch and when I connect the FPGA dev board on the PCI of the CPU dev
board here is what I get:

The Altera FPGA is "directly connected" to the root of the PCIe.

With this device tree node for the corresponding PCIe bus, the pci_dev gets the
femt of_node assigned and I can work with it in the MFD driver.

On our board, the PCIe switch raises the complexity by a level and I cannot get
the femt of_node to assigned to the corresponding pci_device. By debugging a
little bit I have found out that the pci_set_of_node() call from
pci_scan_device() directly returns because there is no of_node for the bus the
FPGA is on.

Based on this I have tried to add the busses created by the PLX bridge to my
device tree.

Is it really necessary to rebuild all this hierarchy in the device tree or have
I missed something that would allow me to get rid of this complex description of
the whole PCIe bus in the device tree ? PCIe is dynamic and can be enumerated
and it would be great to have an easier way to "link" an of_node to certain pci_dev.

If there is no other way than the complete description in the device tree, any
suggestion about what is wrong in my above device tree attempt ? Am I missing
one "intermediate" bus level ?

After the ack, I realized there were some more checks needed, IOW
questions for you :)

1. Have you checked to see if our memblock allocations spill
over to probably hotpluggable nodes?
2. Shouldn't we be marking nodes discovered as movable via
memblock_mark_hotplug()?

It's too late because they are already in the devel branch
and mixed up with merged of *other* immutable stuff.

However I think it is plain wrong to try to keep any bisectability
between the kernel at large and arch/*/boot/dts/*, because
the DTS stuff is supposed to at some point be maintained outside
of the kernel and for all OSes, they simply shouldn't be sync:ed.

What about 2 values: one for the 64-bit caps register and one for a 64-bit
mask of bits to override.  That way you can select which bits to override
and what to override them to.

  -gave each board their own respective line in Makefile, rolled into
    this change instead of creating a new commit for just a Makefile
    update.

  -moved qcom,pmic-id to msm8992-bullhead-rev-101.dts , likewise for
	8994.

  -minor cosmetic cleanups of board files:
	-removed extra braces for board
  	-dropped the frequency table
	-replaced hardcoded #'s with symbolic names
	-removed properties not being used	

  -instead of using msm8974 for basic pinctrl, now we are using
   Micheal Scott's from here, [https://patches.linaro.org/patch/78750/]
   All associated dts files updated accordingly.

  -converted all timer,frame interrupt entries to associated symbolic
   / macro values.  ie) GIC_SPI -> 0

  -defconfig changed to enable 8994 pinctrl instead of 8974

  -updated both 8992, 8994 dts so that the timer node is outside soc.

Yeah, this is incorrect (I should have caught it in review). The device
id should have been present in the lookup. Can you fix auxdata and clock
lookup too and send a separate patch? Its probably a v4.9-rc candidate.

 Thanks, good to know and sorry to raise a late alarm then.

 As it happens the board I've been fiddling with has been temporarily 
sitting idle, so I went ahead and verified that these changes have indeed 
removed the regression in my configuration.  So you've got a confirmation 
from a real Malta hardware user now too (QEMU may have its own quirks).

 As these are fixes to a functional regression I also recommend merging
