This patch set adds a SPI-NOR driver for stm32 QSPI controller.
It is a specialized SPI interface for serial Flash devices.
It supports 1 or 2 Flash device with single, dual and quad SPI Flash memories.

It can operate in any of the following modes:
-indirect mode: all the operations are performed using the quadspi
  registers
-read memory-mapped mode: the external Flash memory is mapped to the
  microcontroller address space and is seen by the system as if it was
  an internal memory

-dt-bindings: see ../spi/spi-bus.txt

Thinking more about this above example, I think you need more
explanation. So in the above case you have cpu with clock controller,
power-domain and the OPP table info, I can think of few things that need
to be explicit:

1. How does the precedence look like ?

2. Since power-domains with OPP table control the performance state, do
   we ignore clock and operating-points-v2 in the above case completely?

3. Will the power-domain drive the OPP ?

As mentioned in the other email, it would be good to consider
scalability with multiple power domains in a PM domain provider.
i.e case of #power-domain-cells = <1> or more

So the above definition is when this field in in the device node rather
than the OPP table entry, right ? For simplicity why not have the
properties named slightly different or just use phandle to an entry in
the device node for this purpose.

Do we ignore operating-points-v2 above as this device/cpu node contains
power domain which has operating-points-v2 property ? In other words
how do they correlate ?

- Changes in Kconfig to enable I2C_DESIGNWARE_SLAVE support
- Slave functions added to core library file
- Slave abort sources added to common source file
- New driver: i2c-designware-slave added
- Changes in the Makefile to compile the I2C_DESIGNWARE_SLAVE module
  when supported by the architecture.

All the SLAVE flow is added but it is not enabled via platform
driver.

- Definitions were added to core library
- A example was added to designware-core.txt Documentation that shows
  how the slave can be setup using DTS

- The functions related to I2C master mode of operation were transformed
  in a single driver.
- Common definitions were moved to i2c-designware-core.h
- The i2c-designware-core is now only a library file, the functions
  associated are in a source file called i2c-designware-common and
  are used by both i2c-designware-master and i2c-designware-slave.
- To decrease noise in namespace common i2c_dw_*() functions are
  now using ops to keep them private.
- Designware PCI driver had to be changed to match the previous ops
  functions implementation.

Almost all of the "core" source is now part of the "master" source. The
difference is the functions used by both modes and they are in the
"common" source file.

- Factor out all _master() part of code from i2c-designware-core
  and i2c-designware-platdrv to separate functions.
- Standardize all code related with MASTER mode.
- I have to take off DW_IC_INTR_TX_EMPTY from DW_IC_INTR_DEFAULT_MASK
  because it is master specific.

The purpose of this is to prepare the controller to have is I2C MASTER
flow in a separate driver. To do this first all the
functions/definitions related to the MASTER flow were identified.

The purpose of this commit is to fix some comments and styling in the
existing code due to the need of reuse this code. What is being made
here is:

- Sorted the headers files
- Corrected some comments style (capital letters, lowcase i2c)
- Reverse tree in the variables declaration
- Add/remove empty lines and tabs where needed
- Fix of misspelled word "endianness" and "transferred"
- Replaced the return variable "r" with the more standard "ret"

The value of this, besides the rules of coding style, is because I
will use this code after and it will make my future patch a lot bigger and
complicated to review. The work here won't bring any additional work to
backported fixes because is just style and reordering.

The purpose of this patchset is to enable Linux to be a I2C slave by 
enabling the slave functionality in the designware I2C controller and at
the same time it does some cleaning of the existing code.

The patch 1 is for cleaning and commentary fix.
The patch 2 refactors the original i2c-designware-core and extracts all
master functions to a i2c-designware-master source file as suggested by
Andy Shevchenko when I first submited the update. The patch 3 then
separates the MASTER flow from the common flow.
The patch 4 introduces the SLAVE necessary definitions to the 
i2c-designware library and adds a how-to-use example to the designware.txt
in device tree bindings.
The patch 5 adds the necessary functions to give the ability to be a SLAVE
to the controller and for that changes also had to be made in the 
Makefile and Kconfig.
The patch 6 enables the SLAVE mode to be detected by the platform module.

The functionality was tested using the hardware independent slave-eeprom
driver based on top of i2c/for-next. The tree I used can be found here:

   regulator: tps65132: add device-tree binding

has been applied to the regulator tree at

   git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/regulator.git 

All being well this means that it will be integrated into the linux-next
tree (usually sometime in the next 24 hours) and sent to Linus during
the next merge window (or sooner if it is a bug fix), however if
problems are discovered then the patch may be dropped or reverted.  

You may get further e-mails resulting from automated or manual testing
and review of the tree, please engage with people reporting problems and
send followup patches addressing any issues that are reported if needed.

If any updates are required or you are submitting further changes they

I do not see where you handle ar1020 differently from ar1021. If devices
are compatible, you do not need to add a new compatible to the driver,
simply use it in the binding:

	compatible = "microchip,ar1020-i2c", "microchip,ar1021-i2c";

No, that's not what I'm saying - such hardware would be extremely
unusual.

This sounds like essentially every audio controller out there.  The
overwhelming majority of controllers do exactly as you describe and have
both directions in the same IP, this really doesn't seem at all unusual.
Off the top of my head I can only think of one SoC family which combines
multiple IPs to do bidirectional audio (though I didn't check).

It really feels like there is something different here and I'm just
missing it.

Given that this case has to be supported anyway I'd be more inclined to
ask the question the other way around TBH.

Hi Thomas

Yep. It was a compromise. By adding a new binding for the GPIO driver,
this might be possible. But it did not seem worth such a major change.

The prime use of this feature is for controlling a fan. So far, i've
not seen any hardware with more than one fan, i.e. needs more than one
PWM. Nor have i seen any hardware with the GPIO for the fan being on
the third bank. A hardware manufacture could add multiple fans, but i
doubt it, they make noise and fail. And if a manufacture does place a
fan on the third bank, it can still be controlled as a plain GPIO fan,
as we have been doing for the last few years.

So i personally think it is an O.K. compromise.

Since you are late to the discussion, you probably missed this part.

Only 370 and XP have the hardware needed to do this. Kirkwood and
Orion5x does not. It was requested a compatible string was added to
indicate SoC has the needed hardware.

The driver was extended when XP was added, due it is per CPU
interrupts. However, that turned out to be broken. One CPU would
enable the interrupt, and it was delivered to another, causing it to
be missed. So XP was reverted to use the plan old ORION way of doing
interrupts.

So this patch adds in a new compatible string for 370 and XP, to
indicate the PWM hardware is available, and keeps using the ORION way
of handing interrupts.

Missed this last time. Do you use this clkdev lookup? The name is
usually supposed to be based on what the device is expecting,
instead of clk_name, and we would want some device name for the
third argument here.

Why does mvpwm needs to be allocated separately? Why not directly embed
it inside the mvebu_gpio_chip structure?

When the LAN9303 device is in MDIO manged mode, all register accesses must
be done via MDIO.

Please note: this code is compile time tested only due to the absence of such
configured hardware. It is based on a patch from Stefan Roese from 2014.
