No I wasn't saying to add a comment to the include section, just add a
comment in the place where you would have called iopoll but don't. Sorry
that it wasn't clear.

Did a quick scan of the code and it's not clear how you connect the L3
interconnect provider to the rest of the interconnect. I don't see any
DT or code references to the rest of the interconnects in the system.
If GPU is making a bandwidth request all the way to L3, how do you
make sure the interconnects between GPU and L3 also scale up properly.

Right, because we can have only 1 "key" for the OPP table. Having more
than one "key" for an OPP table makes a lot of things pretty messy.
Most of the helper functions need to be rewritten to say which key is
being referred to when searching. A lot of the error checking when
creating OPP tables becomes convoluted -- can we allow more than one
OPP entry with the same frequency just because the opp-peak-kBps is
different? Etc. Seems like a lot of code change for something that I
don't think is a very useful.
Also, an OPP table is either going to represent performance levels of
a clock domain (opp-hz) or the performance levels of an interconnect
path (opp-peak-kBps) or an OPP table for genpd. Mixing them all up is
just going to make it convoluted with not enough benefit or use case
that can't be handled as is (separate BW and freq OPP tables).

* [PATCH v2] ARM: dts: am335x-boneblue: Use of am335x-osd335x-common.dtsi
From: David Lechner @ 2019-08-07 20:09 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linux-omap
Cc: David Lechner, Benoît Cousson, Tony Lindgren, Rob Herring,
Mark Rutland, devicetree, linux-kernel, Robert Nelson
This makes use of the am335x-osd335x-common.dtsi file that contains the
common device tree components for Octavo Systems AM335x System-in-
Package that is used on the BeagleBone Blue.
This has two minor side-effects:
1. pinmux_i2c0_pins is renamed to pinmux-i2c0-pins
2. the 1000MHz cpufreq operating point is enabled

* [PATCH v2 3/5] counter: new TI eQEP driver
From: David Lechner @ 2019-08-07 19:40 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linux-iio, linux-omap
Cc: David Lechner, Rob Herring, Mark Rutland, Benoît Cousson,
Tony Lindgren, William Breathitt Gray, Thierry Reding, devicetree,
linux-kernel, linux-pwm
In-Reply-To: <20190807194023.15318-1-david@lechnology.com>
This adds a new counter driver for the Texas Instruments Enhanced
Quadrature Encoder Pulse (eQEP) module.
Only very basic functionality is currently implemented - only enough to
be able to read the position. The actual device has many more features
which can be added to the driver on an as-needed basis.
It is not possible to read the QEPA/B signal values in hardware, so
that feature is omitted.
The TI_PWMSS kernel option is selected in Kconfig to enable the parent
bus, which is needed for power management.

* [PATCH v2 1/5] bus/ti-pwmss: move TI PWMSS driver from PWM to bus subsystem
From: David Lechner @ 2019-08-07 19:40 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linux-iio, linux-omap
Cc: David Lechner, Rob Herring, Mark Rutland, Benoît Cousson,

linux-kernel, linux-pwm
In-Reply-To: <20190807194023.15318-1-david@lechnology.com>
The TI PWMSS driver is a simple bus driver for providing power
power management for the PWM peripherals on TI AM33xx SoCs, namely
eCAP, eHRPWM and eQEP. The eQEP is a counter rather than a PWM, so
it does not make sense to have the bus driver in the PWM subsystem
since the PWMSS is not exclusive to PWM devices.

* [PATCH v2 0/5] counter: new TI eQEP driver
From: David Lechner @ 2019-08-07 19:40 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linux-iio, linux-omap
Cc: David Lechner, Rob Herring, Mark Rutland, Benoît Cousson,
Tony Lindgren, William Breathitt Gray, Thierry Reding, devicetree,
linux-kernel, linux-pwm
This series adds device tree bindings and a new counter driver for the Texas
Instruments Enhanced Quadrature Encoder Pulse (eQEP).
As mentioned in one of the commit messages, to start with, the driver only
supports reading the current counter value and setting the min/max values.
Other features can be added as the counter subsystem gains support for them.
v2 changes:
- New patch to move TI PWMSS driver from drivers/pwm/ to drivers/bus/
- Device tree bindings converted to .yaml format
- Device tree clock renamed from "fck" to "sysclkout"
- Dropped unused index and strobe signals from counter driver
- Added synapses and actions to counter driver
- Fixed base in of kstrtouint()
- Clarifications in commit messages
This series has been tested on a BeagleBone Blue with the following script:
#!/usr/bin/env python3
from os import path
from time import sleep
COUNTER_PATH = '/sys/bus/counter/devices'
COUNTERS = ['counter0', 'counter1', 'counter2']
COUNT0 = 'count0'
COUNT = 'count'
FUNCTION = 'function'
CEILING = 'ceiling'
FLOOR = 'floor'
ENABLE = 'enable'
cnts = []
for c in COUNTERS:
function_path = path.join(COUNTER_PATH, c, COUNT0, FUNCTION)
with open(function_path, 'w') as f:
f.write('quadrature x4')
floor_path = path.join(COUNTER_PATH, c, COUNT0, FLOOR)
with open(floor_path, 'w') as f:
f.write(str(0))
ceiling_path = path.join(COUNTER_PATH, c, COUNT0, CEILING)
with open(ceiling_path, 'w') as f:
f.write(str(0xffffffff))
enable_path = path.join(COUNTER_PATH, c, COUNT0, ENABLE)
with open(enable_path, 'w') as f:
f.write('1')
cnt_path = path.join(COUNTER_PATH, c, COUNT0, COUNT)
cnts.append(open(cnt_path, 'r'))
while True:
for c in cnts:
c.seek(0)
val = int(c.read())
if val >= 0x80000000:
val -= 0x100000000
print(val, end=' ')
print()
sleep(1)

That is a lot of phydev_err() calls. The rest of the driver does not
use any. Also, mdio operations are very unlikely to fail. So i would
just leave it to the layer above to report there is a problem.

We should not ignore the return value. I expect drivers will return
-EINVAL, or EOPNOTSUPP if asked to configure an LED in a way they
don't support. We need to report this. So i would add a phydev_warn:

There is no need for this put. So long as you don't break out of
for_each_child_of_node() with a return, it will correctly release
child at the end of each loop. A continue statement is also O.K.

* [PATCH v1 2/2] clk: qcom: Add Global Clock controller (GCC) driver for SC7180
From: Taniya Das @ 2019-08-07 18:13 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: Stephen Boyd, Michael Turquette
Cc: David Brown, Rajendra Nayak, linux-arm-msm, linux-soc, linux-clk,
linux-kernel, devicetree, robh, Taniya Das
In-Reply-To: <20190807181301.15326-1-tdas@codeaurora.org>
Add support for the global clock controller found on SC7180
based devices. This should allow most non-multimedia device
drivers to probe and control their clocks.
