hi everybody,
does anybody know what happens to static registers (gr0-gr31) in case of a context switch.
in the manual, it says static registers are visible to all procedures(i guess it shouldn't otherwise on a context switch another process would have the same static registers) On the other hand, stacked registers are local to procedures and saved and restored by RSE which makes sense to me.

regarding the compression mode ( i.e., how the file was written , in
"compression enabled" mode or in "compression disabled mode" ).
    Anybody , Plz help ...

There are probably other patches floating around, but Process Resource
Management (PRM) for Linux is/was one approach to do just that:

	http://resourcemanagement.unixsolutions.hp.com/WaRM/prm_linux/

The kernel patches available from this URL are pretty old (up to
2.4.6, as far as I could see), and I'm not sure what the future plans
for PRM on Linux are. Perhaps someone else can provide more details.

howdy!
im trying to install mandrake on a 64 bit itanium machine. i can't get the cd
drive to be recognized in the fsX format. it instead shows up as blk4 and
consequently i can't read the files on the damn cd nor can i use the elilo
command.
does anyone know if this is a hardware issue or if i can somehow get the cd
drive to show up as fs something...
thanks

This is an ia64 CD, right? EFI might recognize an x86 CD, but you
certainly wouldn't be able to install from it.

If you insert the CD after power-up, you may have to do "map -r" to
get EFI to look at the media and figure out there's a filesystem there.
