I'm seeing on some of my machines that while on the text console,
all the non-bold text will blank out after some period of inactivity,
while the bold/bright text remains. (It all comes back after hitting
a key, of course.)
Is this a bug in the kernel's console blanking routines?

I suppose it could be, though I have never before heard of this
strange behavior. Is this only on Lions or Big Surs as well?

I've only seen this on Big Surs, actually. I'm rarely at the
consoles of our Lions for an extended period.
