Nope, you need to upgrade the tools *and* the kernel in parallel
because the interface between the driver and the user tools has been changed.
Assuming that you donÄt have root on an LV, please remember to have a
lilo configuration which enables you to boot
the old kernel *and* a copy of /sbin/e2fsadm, /sbin/[lp]v*, /sbin/vg*
plus /lib/*lvm* online in order to recover in case of problems.
Copy those files to a /sbin and a /lib subdirectory, so that you can access
them in single user mode.
Because this is a major upgrade, please take backups of your data including
the LVM metadata backups in /etc/lvmconf/* !
