Upon reboot, my VG will not activate, therefore I'm unable to mount the filesystem.
I have to run a vgchange -ay , then mount the filesystem manually.
I need the VG to activate on reboot, how do I do this?
Thanks.

What OS are you running? I don't know how to fix it, but I have the
same problem. I'm running Centos 4 Revision 5.

You're not giving us any information with which to help you. What OS
distribution is this? How is the VG configured? What type of storage
does it use? Do you get any errors/warnings while booting? Etc.

mkinitrd might help...perhaps.

Why?
Most distribution initramfs scripts should only bring up the VG that
contains the root volume group. If this were a root VG then the system
would not boot at all.
Auxiliary volume groups should be activated later on by the boot scripts
(possibly after loading drivers and initialising other subsystems on
which they depend).
Regards,
Bryn.
