Hello everybody,
Another year, another libcamera workshop. After the previous editions in
Paris, Brussels and Vienna, we will organize the next workshop in Nice
on Friday the 16th of May. The event will be hosted by Embedded Recipes
([1]) as part of their workshops day ([2]).
This year, our workshop will be colocated with the Pipewire workshop on
the same day and at the same venue (but a different room), to facilitate
discussions about topics that span libcamera and Pipewire. The Linux
Media Summit will also be organized in a nearby location on Tuesday the
13th ([3]).
If you would like to attend, please register your interest by replying
to this e-mail, and indicate if you have any discussion topics you would
like to include in the schedule. We will draft and circulate an agenda
in the next few weeks after receiving topic proposals. If registrations
exceed our capacity, priority will be given based on topic submissions.
The event will be free of charge for attendees.

I will be in Nice and I would like to attend.
2 topics which I would like to see discussed:
1. software ISP status + future plans
2. using a single IPA with multiple pipelines.
Specifically atm my WIP atomisp pipeline-handler is re-using
the software-ISP sw stats + the software ISP "simple" IPA and
another candidate is using swstats + the simple IPA in the
uvc pipeline-handler to add autofocus to e.g. the logitech
quickcam 9000, which has a controllable focus but requires
the driver to do autofocus in software.
Note this is not really a big topic, so maybe we can find
some time before then to discuss this on the list.
Regards,
Hans

Hi Laurent & Hans,
I will join the summit remotely. Will video conference set up for this conference?
Would you please reserve a Topic Session for me? I will update the topic later on.
Thanks,
-Jerry

That's a very good question, which I haven't thought about. I will
inquire with the venue about remote access options, and will let you
know.

I'll be happy to participate. Topic, nothing big, maybe we can spend 20
min, I can share an update on the state of the GStreamer support, and
what is missing, and I'd ask for feedback to complete and prioritized
that part.
I'm also interested in an update from Jacopo around multi-context MC, I
don't feel to dive into sensor configuration, its pretty clear this is
what it is and will be exposed as-is through the abstractions such are
Gst (I'll make patch as soon as I have the time).
regards,
Nicolas

Indeed, it was something I'm planning to propose as a discussion topic
for linux-media and I was specifically looking at discussing this with
you. Do you plan to attend linux-media, or should we set some time
aside outside of the meeting ?

I don't think we have interacted before, could you briefly introduce

Hi Laurent,
thanks a lot!
I'm currently working with communication devices with audio and video capabilities as an embedded Linux platform engineer, so I'd like to learn more about libcamera through this workshop.
I'm pretty new to it, although I'm a fan of FOSS and Linux. :D
Kindly,

attend this in-person. Could you please let me know if it would be

I have added you to the attendees list. There is not additional
requirement, except for showing up on the day of the workshop :-) We
will share practical details closer to the event.

As Jacopo mentioned, I expect the API to be discussed as part of the
Linux media summit on Tuesday. The implications for libcamera can be
further discussed during the libcamera workshop.

I have received logistics feedback from the venue. Rooms will not be
equipped with remote access infrastructure. We will bring conference
speakers and a laptop with a webcam. The internet connection bandwidth
should be sufficient, we will try our best to make remote attendance
possible (likely through Jitsi), but we can't guarantee there will be no
hiccups.

If it's not too late I'd like to attend to the libcamera workshop too :)
Unfortunately I didn't dive in libcamera yet to talk about a specific
topic. We plan to support ST sensors in libcamera, and this is a great
opportunity for me to see libcamera's evolution.
Thanks a lot.

I'd like to add a topic for :
MAINTAINERS:
We now have many separate people working on different areas of
libcamera:
- How to clarify who is responsible for given areas of libcamera
- Should we bring in an equivalent MAINTAINERS and
scripts/get_maintainer.{pl,py,sh,..} file
Hopefully this can help make it clearer who's responsible for supporting
given patches and hopefully that could make it easier for contributors
to know what's required to get patches merged.
(perhaps that topic then extends to ... does everyone know what it takes
to get code merged ....)

I am new to libcamera, I might not have a full-fleged topic to propose.
However I would be glad to occupy an empty seat as a way to introduce myself
to libcamera to understand how it can help the Zephyr RTOS, which imported
some V4L2-style APIs lately.
https://github.com/zephyrproject-rtos/zephyr/issues/82158
https://github.com/zephyrproject-rtos/zephyr/issues/86669
https://github.com/zephyrproject-rtos/zephyr/issues/87935
I might also be able to attend the Embedded Recipes and Gstreamer events.
Looking forward for it,
Josuah

I don't know if there is any room left, but if there is a spot left, I'd
like to attend the libcamera workshop.
I'm sorry to be this late, my travel plans have been a bit difficult.

Please see
https://lists.libcamera.org/pipermail/libcamera-devel/2025-May/050272.html
for information about remote attendance. It will be a best effort setup,
as we can't guarantee the quality of the internet connection in the
conference room. The workshop will not be recorded, but we will take
notes and publish them.
