Here is a patch to clean up Linux/mips. It also fixes a bug in
UNIQUE_SECTION in config/mips/elf.h, which uses `decl' instead of
`DECL'. Tested on Linux/mipsel.

No. I will let their maintainers decide what to do. Personally, I think they

I changed it to
* config/mips/little.h: New. Generic little endian mips
targets. Only mips*-*-linux* is converted to use it so far.
BTW, let me know if it is ok to check in. Also, I'd like to check it
into gcc 3.0.1 if it is approved for the trunk.

were able to bootstrap with no regressions? If so, then it is approved
for the trunk. Mark will need to approve for the branch.

Well, it is my first try of gcc 3.0/3.1 on Linux/mips. I also have to
disable libgcj since it is not supported. I couldn't find any previous
gcc 3.0/3.1 testsuite results for Linux/mips. In any case, I am
enclosing mine here. It has more failures than it should have since
my hardware/kernel is flaky.

What incredibly critical problem does this solve? Recall that 3.0.1
is currently frozen, waiting only for some breakage in V3-land to get
fixed, before we produce a release candidate.

Have you seen reports on any Linux/mips targets at
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-testresults/
My goal is to make it appear one day. I'd like to see gcc 3.0.1 is
at least partially supported on Linux/mips.

I am trying to get gcc 3.x to work correctly on Linux/mips. I believe
very very few people have done

You need to explain what problem your patch solves, in detail, and how
it solves it, so that even I, not as smart as you, can understand it.
I had an excellent professor in college who gave a lecture on the first
day of every class to introduce his perspective. He said that many
students think that their job is to learn as much as possible, but
that's not it at all. Instead, he pointed out, the job of a student is
to make it as easy as possible for the grader to give them an `A'. That
means don't write in red pencil on both sides of a piece of paper
torn from a spiral bound notebook -- LaTeX it. Don't just write code
that works; include comments that make it obvious it works. Don't skip
10 obvious steps in the proof; the grader may not be as smart as you.
I cannot match the flair with which the original lecture was delivered,
but that was the idea.

Well, the mips config is a mess and Eric suggested me to clean it up
at least for Linux/mips since I have been working on fixing the gcc
3.x for Linux/mips. I'd love to see Linux/mips be supported in gcc
3.0.1. But I am afraid I don't have the time to do more than what I
have done so far.
