Hi!

The howto states that there's currently no linux running on the RM600.
Is this information up-to-date? ...or has already some work be done? I
could get one of those boxes, but I don't want to only use it as a
letter weight...

*Cough* You could also kill an Elephant with certain extension steps.

I know:-) But what about the RM600. I've found some announcement
for some SAP monitoring system running on "RM600/LINUX" (can be
found at http://www.save.de/bereiche/ak_s/sap/sap1000/agenda.html).

I found arbitrary texts talking about RM600 and Reliant Unix, but
that's not what I want. (Or do I want to have the 2nd exotic O/S
running?)

I dont think they mean THE RM600 or they mean RM600/Reliant
and/or Linux/i386

The RM600 is big endian only AFAIK and was running Sinix/Reliant
only. The RM200 port which existed and which might be completely
outdated and non-functional now is for little endian which
the RM200 were delivered with for running Windows-NT.

Thus - Its a completely new port ...

Shit. Does anybody know something about Siemen's / SNI's / Wincor's
documentation policy? Karsten? Any hope to get the box running with
linux?

There is no documentation i know of - But we should be able to reactivate
a couple of people within SNI/Paderborn (Probably they are even reading
on here) which can at least give good answers to intelligent questions.

AFAIK: no chance.

Oh, I need my RM200C as a router so I'm just working on resurrecting
that port :)

Little endian - still don't have a floppy with the big endian firmware ...

Flo has got EB, you've got EL. I once again think about an archive of
EPROM, EEPROM and flash contents... That would especially also help
those broken /240 with MOP-only firmware...

Well, MOP actually works reasonably and is overall better supported by
DEC hardware (consider non-working ARP). Then there is a legal problem --
the license doesn't permit redistribution.

That said, I have snapshots of: KN03-AA V5.1b (TFTP broken), KN03-AA
V5.2b (OK) and KN05 V2.1k (OK), as well as of PMAG-CA V5.3a. I have
images of the host accessible areas of: PMAF-AA 5.2 (ROM rev. 1.0,
firmware rev. 1.1) and PMAGB-BA V1.1, but they are flashable and the
layout may be incorrect for the respective flashers, especially the former
lacks m68k firmware.
