Greetings:

I've been trying to work with some video settings, but I'm confused
about which conf file to edit, and where that file should actually
reside.

I'm using the binary distro of dosemu 1.0.2, it works very well, but
the documentation doesn't tell me enough about the configuration.
Changes I make in either ~/mydos/conf/* or /etc/dosemu.conf are not
acquired by the binary, so can anyone fill me in a bit better on where
to start with my configuration ?

Btw, as an example, if I change the name of the xterm title in
dosemu.conf no change takes place when I run ~/mydos/bin/xdosemu. Ditto
for CPU, mouse settings, etc.

Best regards,

I have here ~/dosemu/xdosemu, but no ~/dosemu/bin/xdosemu.
If I change something in ~/dosemu/conf/dosemu.conf (for instance,
$_X_title = "DOS in a BOX") then it is reflected.

The same should be true for you with ~/mydos instead of ~/dosemu and
please also check that ~/.dosemu/bindist_path contains ~/mydos written out.

Bart

My bad, it is ~/mydos/dosemu/xdosemu.

Definitely not working for me. I just tried it again, no joy.

It does.

It seems that my changes should work. Any suggestions ?

No, it seems like you have an extra level:
your dosemu directory is not ~/mydos but ~/mydos/dosemu
Hence editing ~/mydos/conf/dosemu.conf does not help but you need to edit
~/mydos/dosemu/conf/dosemu.conf

Is your bindist_path really ~/mydos or is it ~/mydos/dosemu ?

Bart
