Hello,
i have some problems getting the mouse to work under dosemu-1.0.2.
First i had the problem that the mouse movement was just not smooth, but with
setting hogthreshhold to 0 this was much better.
But mouse clicking does not work anyway, if i click on the left button, the
mouse cursor jumps to the upper left corner, and then right back, without any
effect.
Any suggestions?
Bye Thomas

And you are lucky that you don't
have many other problems with that
particular version.

This was hopefully fixed/improved in
1.1.3.

This is strange indeed...
Just for the correct statistic: was that
you who filled this bugreport on sourceforge,
or this problem happens for several people now?
> Any suggestions?
Only one so far: upgrade your DOSEMU!
Latest from 1.1 branch is 1.1.3.1
Latest from 1.0 is 1.0.2.1 (without mouse fix)
And if the mouse problems are still there,
please specify the program you are running
under dosemu when this happens.

no it wasn't me.

i tried dosemu-1.1.3.1 and it got somewhat better:
now the mouse runs smooth without setting hogthreshhold to 0 (at least in some
programs, see below). The mouse clicking problem is also getting better,
although from time to time it occurs again.
But upgrading to 1.1.3.1 also created some new problems. I have tested it with
"Die Fugger 2", and this causes xdosemu to crashe (with hogtreshhold set to 0
it crashes right after moving the mouse, with setting to 1 it crashes after
some time, e.g. 20 s). Also the mouse runs not smooth in this game without
setting hogt. to 0.
Bye Thomas

Please produce the -D9+Xm log.

With DPMI programs, right?
If so, then it is a known problem of 1.1.3
(since 1.1.2.7)

Visit
dosemu.sourceforge.net/stas
page and grab the necessary patches from there.
Let me know the results.
And specifying the program's name doesn't help
too much, please specify also an URL for download.

Does setting hogthreshold to 5, 10, 50 etc helps,
or only 0?

i have tried all patches from you, and with them the programs don't crash
anymore. Anyway the mouse move and click problem still remains.
See below for a -D9+Xm log.
The problem is that the mouse click behavior is not deterministic. Sometimes
it works fine, and the next time i start xdosemu it doesn't work right.
The mouse click gets recognized if i "delay" the click and release the button
then.

i dont have an URL for that old game, sorry.

Very good. These patches are aimed to fix
the 1.1.3 DPMI breakage and, while they don't
currently cover the whole issue, they are
getting there (addressing many other problems
at the same time).
> Anyway the mouse move and click problem still remains.
Yes, this I have never been able to reproduce
hence I don't have a cure.
> The problem is that the mouse click behavior is not deterministic.
But is there something that affects it?
Does hogthreshold make any difference?
Is this problem happens only with a specific
program ("Die Fugger 2"), or with all programs?

This smells really bad...

Does this make sense if you enable mouse grab
by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Home?
(your mouse must be blocked inside the xdos
window after you do this)

i have tried different hog settings from 0-50, but no significant difference.
The problem exists in all tested programs, but it seems, that in some programs
the problem is more relevant (it occurs more often).

no difference at all.
Bye Thomas
