Hi,
I am trying to install RHL7.3 on my machine (WinXP is already there in it).
I get the following error message -
Running anaconda - please wait...

Probing for Mouse type: Generic - 3 Button mouse(PS/2)
Attempting to start framebuffer based Server

I had used the same set of CD's to install linux earlier on the same machine. A week ago i formatted my hard-disk and tried to reinstall but it didn;t work.
Any idea what the problem mite be?

And what might "my machine" be??? Your not giving the folks on the list much
info to go on, despite doing a good job of relaying the appropriate error
messages. With more info, someone here *might* be able to help.

Are you sure that you installed "gtk" and its libs.??
All the errors concern gtk.

Hi,
Firstly it seems a bit strange that you installed Linux on the same machine
from the same CDs earlier and while it worked then, it fails now.
My first guess would be that the CD is damaged. The install is complaining
about a corrupt header in the gtk library. Maybe the CD is scratched/damaged.
If I were in this situation, I would try a text only install just to see if
it works.
If it stil fails, get another disc.
Hope this helps.
regards,
John Kelly

Well in that case i agree with John Kelly.
Now you can see why one should try and make his/her question as clear as
possable.
If i remember correctly you mentioned redhat 7.2, why i ask do you want to
install such an old version, after all 7.2 does not include support for much
of todays advanced hardware.
By getting the latest version you should save yourself a lot of grief. As soon
as you find out that your chipset or some other piece of hardware does not
have a spesific driver or at worst no support at all you will see what i
mean.

Well, I tried the first part of what John Kelly suggested (installing in text mode). It didn;t work, so will try with a new set of cd's.
I am trying RHL 7.3 as there is this specific HostAP software which
seems to be have tested on v7.3 but not on the later versions.
So my project team suggested that we continue using RHL7.3 coz thats what they have in their university too.
Thanks for the suggestions n help.
