Greetings, and a fantastic piece from Cringely that should be
mandatory reading for every computer user in the world. <g> IMHO.
No disrespect to Linus, of course, but he should have also mentioned
Richard Stallman, and so many others, plus the FSF, Free Software
Foundation (GNU) and it's "copyleft" support, without which it would
not have happened..
We might also add Commodore Business Machines, Inc., a Micro$oft type
wanabee, albeit only hardware, with it's one time try for complete
domination but, at least, producing the Vic20 which waxed Linus's
interest during the dawn of it all...
All in all, it's been an interesting ride that will continue.
