is emacs considered a gui WP or cli?

I was wondering if Emacs was considered to be gui based WP or cli-based?

Does it matter a great deal? I normally classify it as CLI-based, because
it runs fine on a virtual console without X running, but that's just
an opinion.

Most definitely. They release a little slowly (Emacs 1 dates from 1976,
and the current version is 21.2, so that's less than one release a year),
but it is still being worked on.

Hi, Matthew!

The emacs we're talking about is afaik the *GNU emacs* that 
Richard Stallman gave to the unix community long time ago.
There is actual a version called xemacs which one could consider 
a *gui-editor* (or whatsoever). 

But to be honest, I don't use either.
My editor-of-choice is vi and I'm not familliar with both, GNU emacs 
and xemacs. Maybe smbdy else on this list can give you more advise on that.

I use GNU Emacs all the time.  And I love it.  I use the viper mode,
in which you can use the vi commands to edit.

To ask a question you don't need to subscribe to that mailing list (I
