I have noticed that the 2.4.21 kernel generate the message

An unexpected IO-APIC was found. If this kernel release is less than
three months old please report this to linux-smp@vger.kernel.org

on my new Toshiba P25-S507 laptop. I'm including the dmesg output
from my last boot. Kernel in this case is 2.4.21-0.25mdksmp, a
Mandrake-supplied kernel. I have also used the UP kernel of the
same version, with the same results.

I haven't hand-built my own kernel, because this one does me just
fine and it hasn't been worth the effort. If I can assist in any
type of debugging, let me know.

Brendan

G'day,

Following is section from dmesg highlighting an unexpected IO-APIC
report requesting an e-mail to your goodselves. I've included a bit more
of the dmesg than strictly necessary as it may be of some use. The
kernel was built without CONFIG_SMP but with CONFIG_X86_UP_APIC and
CONFIG_X86_UP_IOAPIC.

Cheers

Lard.
