Hi,

a few people including Mark and me have talked about holding a small
meeting for the Linux audio stuff (finally again!) during the next
Linux Plumbers Conference (on Oct 5-7 at Prague).

Has anyone already planned to attend there and is interested to join?
If we have enough people, we can try an official BoF session.
Otherwise, we can just have an unofficial session at lunch time or
such, too. Just let us know.

Thanks!

Takashi

Hi,

I will be attending Linux Plumbers and would be pleased to participate in
a BoF session or another type of meeting.

Thanks,

So, the conference will be opening on the next Monday, and we still
haven't planed yet -- business as usual :)

I put people who showed interests in Cc. If more people are
interested to join, heartedly welcome!

If anyone has NO-GO time slots (Monday AM/PM, Tuesday AM/PM, Wednesday
AM/PM), let us know. Or, since there aren't so many people, we can
just have a lunch or dinner meeting, too. If you have any preference,
speak up, please.

thanks,

Takashi

I'm on the committee for Plumbers so I'll mostly be busy in sessions,
I've also got a dinner booked on Tuesday. Breaks or the Monday or
Wedneday evening events should be better for me.

I couldn't make it this year unfortunately, will start to get plans
for next year rolling a lot sooner. :)

I'm okay with any format. Monday or Wednesday works better for me.

It seems that a lunch meeting would be fitting at b.

How about Wednesday's lunch? Does anyone have a conflict?

Afraid I am not going to make it this year, very sorry about
that. But I definitely approve of the idea to try and restart
some audio meet ups and hopefully can make it for something
next year.

Thanks,
Charles

It work for me, too. I'm looking forward to meet you all.

Mark, would be possible to reserve a club room on first floor for this? Or you
may have a better idea where we can held this meeting. Thank you

Jaroslav

Thankyou Takashi and Mark for setting up this meeting,

Here is some Meeting Notes, please add if I missed anything.

-SDCA
Discussed gaps in the MIPI SDCA specification for platforms that don't
use ACPI.
Action item: @Srini to engage more actively with MIPI to help shape
future versions of the spec.

-Compressed Offload and End-to-End Testing
Concern raised that compressed audio support gets little or no testing,
since it can currently only be exercised from the command line.
Proposals:
Integrate tinycompress into alsa-lib.
Explore options for supporting compress offload in UCM.
Action item: @vinod or @Jaroslav for merge
@Jaroslav to look at offload UCM.
@Srini to look into player support for e2e testing

-Speaker Protection
Brief discussion on whether a standard framework or user-space utilities
exist for performing speaker calibration or applying calibration data.
Action Item:

-ASoC Componentization
Discussed the current status of ASoC componentization.
The work could move faster with extra help; volunteers for development
and testing are welcome.

-Sashiko Reviews
Takashi proposed enabling Sashiko reviews on the sound mailing list.
Everyone agreed, with some changes to the default configuration (e.g.,
cool-off period for responses).

-Quarterly Meetings
Takashi proposed holding a virtual meeting every quarter.
Action item: @Takashi to send invite.

-Next LPC
Agreed that a dedicated Audio BoF at LPC would be beneficial.
Action item: @Srini and @Vinod to set this up.

Thanks,
Srini

Thanks Srini! It was really nice to meet you guys there.

One topic I talked was about Rust support:
I asked whether there are any interests of Rust support for sound
subsystem. As I worked on an early prototype with the help of AI, and
I'll show the material for discussion on ML.
