Hi.
Im a member of IDIM (Investigacion y Desarrollo de la Informatica Musical), wichis a students association from the UPM university at Madrid.
In IDIM, we are trying to research about everything related with electronic
music, synthesizers, and so on. We have a lot of software and hardware proyects, and we have just finished our first software project.
In IDIM, we intend to program everything only for Linux.
Our first software is very simple, but we are just beggining to learn. :-)
Its a MIDI monitor for Linux. That is, a program that shows you on the screen
every MIDI message that the sond card receives from its MIDI INput.
It is only a beta, cause we dont have the necessary gear to test some of the
MIDI messages.
So, we need beta-testers, and we would be highly greated if anyone could help
us, as we are trying to help to the linux sound community.
We need somebody with a MIDI synth that must be able to transmit theese kind
of messsages (or some of them):
System Real Time, System Common, Channel Mode, Polyphonic AfterTouch.
In the file ILM.BETA, you can find a detailed list of all NON-tested messages.
Please, if you have MIDI gear download the IDIMIDI Linux Monitor 1.0b, and
test it and, please, send us an email with the results of the test. Try to
test all the MIDI messages your synth can send (you can see them in the MIDI
Implementation Chart).
This is the way to download the MIDI monitor:
1.- Go to this URL:
http://zipi.fi.upm.es/~idim
2.- Go to the last section: "Software propio de IDIM".
3.- Download the file, and 'untar' it with :
tar zxvf ilm10b.gz
If you dont have MIDI gear but you are interested in learning about MIDI you
can also download it and read the documentation but, sorry, its only on Spanish. :-(
Thank you very much.
We will be waiting for your tests.
