Which kernel are you using? The 2.2 series kernel fixes a bug that some sound apps use. Real player
 and I think x11 amp. Read the 'changes' file in /usr/src/linux for more details.

I have this problem with playing sound in X. Their seem to be some app
that uses the sound device(Read as: if I try start e.g. x11amp it works
fine until I press play, I can play music cd:s though). How can I find
out which one and kill it?

//thanks on beforehand
