Are there any apps that use /dev/midi for playback/recording?

All the apps that I have come across (rosegarden, playmidi, etc.) seem to
use /dev/sequencer, which my soundcard (es1370) does not support.

Appreciate any pointers!

TIA,
Bertrand.
