Have had success playing MP3s using kmp3. There is however a continous
popping about every 500-750 ms. This popping disappears after clicking
pause/play but returns when the next song begins. Card sounds great
without popping. Have not been successful at ditigal I/O or playing CDs yet.
Haven't had a chance to try the analog sampling or MIDI yet.. This is a great
card and will be even greater for us when all the bugs are worked out in the
drivers.

Most importantly, does Digital I/O work? (I'm eyeing my MiniDisc...)

It installed and ran with no complaints, which is nice.
cd plays fine and so do waves, although no environmental
audio that I am aware of. Environmental audio support
would be stupendous. Have not tried piping midi through
it yet.

Yes I am very pleased with it under W95. I was able to stream digital I/O from
a Tascam DA-30 and burn CDs. I could not hear any difference between the
CD and the DAT. The driver just needs to be worked out for Linux.
Thanks

I've made some progress with SBLive. I've now listened through analog in. It
sounds great. I was using a very low noise source, DAT Master tapes I
mastered. I noticed some slight noise on the right channel with the faders
cranked between the tracks. You wouldn't dare leave them at that level for the
program material. With the faders down the program was close 100db spl
at my ears and there was no noise between tracks.
I tried a midi file with the midi player that comes with KDE. I don't think I
was getting midi signal out the cable however I heard music from the
internal synth. Midi will take a little more time to figure out because
of all the possible settings.
Thanks

Does the beta drivers work under 2.2.x ?
Have any of you gotten the Digital I/O to work?
I'm looking for a good way to get rid of all those annoying boxes with
round shiny things, the larger cardboard things with large black round
things in them, and soo on, and just be able to pick among the music
that's stored locally and that which is stored somewhere on the net and
have the machine play it.

Digital i/o works on Trident 4dwave-NX cards. And the alsa driver works
nice too. Get an NX card from www.hoontech.com
I use it with my minidisc recorder and it works great 8)
